Can't BELIEVE it took me so long to finally read this, one of the best books I've read in a long while and so exactly the kind of book I love. Political but with wonderful characters, alternate history, not utopian or dystopian but has both real stakes and real hope, exploring identity and community....
Also now I can finally stop mentally confusing the title with the author China Mieville.
