Rebecca G strong rec!
Rebecca was sooo right. Does that "treat a fantasy concept as sci-fi" thing I love so much, with an international NGO bent to it - the informational fact sheets between the chapters were just chef's kiss. Rebecca surely appreciated these even more because it's her field, but I got a kick out of 'em.
I was terribly afraid that it was going to be a "be careful what you wish for" theme from the way the first story starts, but it's NOT. So if that's also not your thing, keep going!
