This is less a romance book than a book about going through a super traumatic experience, dealing with it, and coming out changed but good in a happily-ever-after kind of way that we usually associate with romance. There's also some romance on the side, but I didn't need it. Also, interestingly, not with either of the people depicted on the cover + mentioned on the back.

The job stuff is written in a light, over-the-top way that seemed to be aiming for humorous, but it was so fucking dark.

Despite not being what I expected, I was really into this - very well written and hard to put down, even when I was mostly thinking "no really girl, we need to make a plan for murdering your boss."
