The Library of the Dead (Edinburgh Nights, #1)

by T.L. Huchu

Not bad, but the pacing was inconsistent. The climax was especially bumpy - too many separate villains to defeat, and each one too easily bested. There was clearly something being set up for future books about Ropa dismissing the magic theory her grandmother's trying to teach her in favor of the more academic white western version, and I would like to read how Huchu develops that theme.
