Akiva Reads

In the Garden of Iden (The Company, #1)

by Kage Baker

A long loud resounding eyeroll to the love interest---but I did think Baker portrayed how silly Mendoza got over him in a realistic way ("playing the part of a medieval Spanish teenager," as she puts it), and it's a lot more about her growth than his. It'll be interesting to reread the second book now that I know how much more Mendoza brought to the relationship than he did.

A little :S about all the period-appropriate antisemitism, even though I didn't have any issues with how Baker handled it.

Anyway now that I've FINALLY read this book I'm excited to dive into this series for real. I'm very intrigued by the series-arc mystery and I want to know what happens, damn it.
