I have been meaning to read this since I was a literal teen, because I was compelled by the illustration of a tired looking woman in armor on the cover. Turns out it's very gay and good! I could have done without the genocide tbh, I don't think it was necessary in a generally very slow and grounded book that has a lot of thoughts about the toll of violence and trauma.
