I'm not gonna say this is high art, but I had a great time and stayed up late to finish it. Jack's feelings about his sister were especially well done, and I appreciated the misdirection with respect to how the inevitable "betrayal!" twist went down --- hey, he didn't have to spend the rest of the book proving himself to be worthy of his love interest! I was not surprised that the answer to the Last Contract was going to be the end of magic as they knew it, but I was a bit surprised at how ~Dramatique~ the action scenes got.
