Akiva Reads

One Last Stop

by Casey McQuiston

This was shaping up to be a 3.5-4 star read until the bit where the connection between the two missing persons finally happened, and even though I was expecting it it was electric. I immediately finished the rest of the book that I'd been dawdling my way through for a few weeks.

Is there a word for the "oh shit some character doesn't know gay history and is about to have an emotional bomb dropped on them" moment? Because this is not the only thing I've read that has played on that. (Actually... does Casey McQuiston read (....or write) novel-length Captain America fanfic? Hmmmmmmm.) Thank goodness it wasn't AIDS, that's all. I think she probably considered it and decided NOT to tbh.
