Suffer a Sea-Change (October Daye 12.5)
by Seanan McGuire
I get why McGuire thinks she has to spend a lot of time with Gillian whining about how hard it is to be saved from certain death by becoming a selkie -- there has to be some kind of conflict to justify a story -- but it's annoying to read. A less-lazy version would probably have some of Gillian's pre-Selkie perspective so not as much needs to be expositioned. The most successful scenes by far are between Firtha and Gillian; "becoming a haunted house" is a nice turn of phrase.
