I think the thing I liked most about this book was the way it was written. It has the most wonderful, quietly magical atmosphere, laced with elaborate, true-to-life superstitions and character insights. I read the first third of the book long before I went back and finished it, so I didn't even keep track of the plot all that well.
What it boils down to is that I'm not sure I can describe this book well but I really enjoyed reading it.
